My name is Jake Reijm and I have lived in Whatcom County since 2010. I moved up here from Burlington to go to school at Western Washington University where I acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Geology. I fell in love with the Bellingham area and have loved living here since. For the first 8 years of my career, I worked in the Environmental Consulting field conducting Environmental Site Assessments through the remediation of sites in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines. In addition to geology, I have always had an interest in Real Estate, and I decided to take a leap of faith to start my career in real estate. Because of my background, I bring a unique skill set and perspective to the real estate process. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Rachel, for 10 years. Throughout our 10 years we have bought and sold homes as we have worked our way to our dream turn of the century farmhouse on acreage in Ferndale. So, I know what sweat equity can do! We now have two beautiful children who we love raising on our hobby farm. It is my goal in real estate to work with individuals and families to help guide them through the process of acquiring their dream homes, so they too can experience the joy and sense of pride having achieved goals of homeownership. I credit my success to A LOT of hard work, working more hours than I care to count, but more so to my supportive wife and family, who have been my rock through the entire year. I also owe a lot of gratitude to my mentor Tim Cornwell, and my entire team at the Redwood Group.
Community Involvement:
Being in Real Estate is about a lot of things, but I’ve learned that a lot of it comes down to relationships and being active in the community. Relationships both with clients, family, and friends, as well as building long lasting professional relationships with other realtors, lenders, title officers, contractors, builders, and more. I’d like to say I’ve built long lasting relationships with many active members in the real estate community so far, and look forward to continuing to cultivate those relationships, as well as build new ones. I also am a founding member of a newly created local non-profit organization, called Catalyst Community. As a founding member and active board member, I work with my fellow members to bring equitable healthcare to our community. Our mission is to support equitable access to healthcare for our community by reducing the discrepancy in compensation between Medicaid reimbursement and the average reimbursement by private insurers.
